〜についてRanges & ConnectionsAbout... / Regarding...कै बारेमाNoun + について. Indicates the topic being talked about, studied, or considered.
Used to introduce the topic of discussion, study, or thought. についての + noun (本, 話) is also used. につきまして is a more formal variant.
कुराकानी, पढाइ वा विचारको विषय प्रस्तुत गर्छ। についての + संज्ञा (本, 話) का रूपमा पनि प्रयोग हुन्छ। につきまして बढी औपचारिक रूप हो।
〜べきRequest & PermissionShould / ought to — moral obligation or strong adviceगर्नुपर्ने / गर्नु उचित — नैतिक दायित्व वा बलियो सुझावVerb (plain present) + べき (だ/です). する can become すべき or するべき.
Expresses a strong sense of moral duty or what is considered proper. Stronger than ほうがいい. Negative: べきではない.

Indicates the capacity, role, or classification under which something is considered.

〜べきだJudgment & ModalityShould / Ought toगर्नुपर्छ / गर्नैपर्नेVerb dictionary form + べきだ (する→すべきだ is also acceptable). States a strong opinion about what is the right thing to do.
Stronger than 〜たほうがいい. Used for moral/ethical statements, advice, or general truths. The polite form べきです is common; べきだ is blunt. Avoid with 〜た to talk about past events (use べきだった for 'should have').

Three main uses: (1) direction of action/feeling, (2) contrast between two things, (3) regarding a topic.

A versatile pattern with several meanings: (1) indicates agent in passive sentences, (2) depending on, (3) by means of, (4) due to.
धेरै अर्थ भएको बहुमुखी ढाँचा: (१) कर्मवाच्यमा कर्तालाई जनाउँछ, (२) मा भर पर्दै, (३) को माध्यमबाट, (४) का कारणले।
〜のでReason & ResultBecause / So (polite reason)भएकोले / किनभनेVerb/Adjective (plain form) + ので, or Noun/な-Adjective + な + ので. Gives a reason in a polite, objective tone.
Politer and more objective than から. Common in formal speech and polite requests. The result clause is often already known or expected by the listener.

〜のにConditionalsEven though... / Despite...भए पनि / गर्दा पनिVerb/Adjective (plain form) + のに, Noun/な-adjective + な + のに. Expresses a contrast where the result is contrary to expectation.
Carries a nuance of complaint, surprise, or dissatisfaction — stronger than 〜ても/〜が. Cannot be used to describe the speaker's own intentional action in the past.
गुनासो, आश्चर्य वा असन्तोषको भाव — 〜ても/〜が भन्दा बलियो। वक्ताको आफ्नै विगतको जानबुझेर गरेको कामका लागि प्रयोग हुँदैन।

Partially denies a conclusion that might be drawn. Useful for nuanced disagreement. わけがない = there is no way that ~.

Expresses the perspective or opinion of a particular person or group. Followed by evaluation words like 大切, 難しい, 便利.
कुनै विशेष व्यक्ति वा समूहको दृष्टिकोण वा विचार व्यक्त गर्छ। 大切, 難しい, 便利 जस्ता मूल्याङ्कन गर्ने शब्दहरूसँग प्रयोग हुन्छ।
〜ことにする / なるVerb FormsDecide to ~ / It is decided that ~~ गर्ने निर्णय गर्नु / ~ हुने निर्णय भएको होVerb dictionary/nai form + ことにする/なる
ことにする = actively decide (speaker's choice). ことになる = it has been decided (external decision, often passive result).
ことにする = सक्रिय रूपमा निर्णय गर्नु (वक्ताको रोजाइ)। ことになる = निर्णय भइसकेको (बाह्य निर्णय, प्रायः निष्क्रिय परिणाम)।
〜てくるTime & SequenceCome to do / has become / go and come backकेही गर्न आउनु / भइसकेको / गएर फर्कनुVerb て-form + くる
A multi-purpose pattern: (1) an action in the direction toward the speaker, (2) a change that has developed up to the present, (3) going somewhere and coming back.
बहुउद्देश्यीय ढाँचा: (१) वक्तातर्फको दिशामा हुने क्रिया, (२) हालसम्म आइपुगेको परिवर्तन, (३) कतै गएर फर्कनु।
〜ていくTime & SequenceGo on doing / continue to / go away doingगर्दै जानु / निरन्तर गर्नु / गर्दै टाढा जानुVerb て-form + いく
A multi-purpose pattern: (1) an action away from the speaker, (2) a change continuing into the future, (3) doing something while going.
बहुउद्देश्यीय ढाँचा: (१) वक्ताबाट टाढाको दिशामा हुने क्रिया, (२) भविष्यतर्फ निरन्तर जारी रहने परिवर्तन, (३) जाँदै-जाँदै केही गर्नु।
〜ずにNegation & AnyWithout doing...नगरी / नगरिकनVerb ない-form (minus ない) + ずに
〜ずに means 'without doing...', the negative counterpart of the て-form. する becomes せずに. It is more formal and literary than ないで.
〜ずに ले 'नगरीकन' भन्ने अर्थ दिन्छ र て-रूपको नकारात्मक रूप हो। する → せずに हुन्छ। ないで भन्दा बढी साहित्यिक र औपचारिक छ।
〜おかげでReason & ResultThanks to... / Because of... (positive result)को कारणले / को मद्दतलेNoun + のおかげで, or Verb/Adjective (plain form) + おかげで. Expresses that a good result was achieved thanks to a cause.
Used when a positive outcome is due to something or someone. It can also be used ironically for negative results, but せいで is more common for blaming. おかげさまで is a fixed polite expression of thanks.
राम्रो नतिजा कुनै कुरा वा व्यक्तिको कारणले आएको भन्दा प्रयोग गरिन्छ। नकारात्मक नतिजाका लागि प्रायः せいで प्रयोग हुन्छ। おかげさまで भने धन्यवाद जनाउने स्थायी विनम्र अभिव्यक्ति हो।
〜せいでReason & ResultBecause of... / Blamingकै कारणले (दोष दिँदा)Noun + のせいで, or Verb/Adjective (plain form) + せいで. Expresses a negative result caused by something, often with blame.
Used to blame a cause for a bad outcome. The result is always negative or undesirable. Unlike おかげで, it carries a critical, accusatory nuance.
नराम्रो नतिजाको कारण कसै वा कुनै कुरालाई दोष दिँदा प्रयोग गरिन्छ। नतिजा सधैं नकारात्मक हुन्छ। おかげで भन्दा फरक यसमा आलोचनात्मक भाव हुन्छ।
〜うちにTime & SequenceWhile in the process of... / While still...~ गर्दै गर्दा / ~ हुँदै गर्दाVerb (て-form/ない-form/dictionary) + うちに / Noun + の + うちに
Expresses doing something within a period, or that an event happens while another continues. It also has the time-limit nuance while still ~ / before it changes: e.g., 明るいうちに (while it's still light), 若いうちに (while still young). The condition ends once the state changes.
कुनै अवधिभित्र काम गर्ने वा अर्को कुरा जारी रहँदा कुनै घटना हुने कुरा जनाउँछ। साथै अझै ~ हुँदै गर्दा / परिवर्तन हुनुअघि भन्ने समय-सीमाको अर्थ पनि दिन्छ: जस्तै 明るいうちに (उज्यालो छँदै), 若いうちに (जवानीमै)। अवस्था परिवर्तन भएपछि त्यो अवधि सकिन्छ।

〜ところ is used to express the precise temporal phase of an action: about to start, currently in progress, or just completed.
〜ところ ले कुनै क्रियाको सटीक समय चरण व्यक्त गर्न प्रयोग हुन्छ: सुरु गर्न लागेको, हाल जारी रहेको, वा भर्खर सम्पन्न भएको।
〜ながらVerb FormsWhile doing ~ / Although ~ (contrast)~ गर्दै गर्दा / ~ भए पनि (विपरीत)Verb ます-stem + ながら
Two uses: (1) simultaneous actions (same subject), (2) concessive contrast (similar to のに). The main action comes after.
दुई प्रयोग: (१) एकैसाथ हुने क्रियाहरू (उही कर्ता), (२) स्वीकारात्मक विपरीतता (のに जस्तै)। मुख्य क्रिया पछि आउँछ।
〜ようにRequest & PermissionBe sure to... / Make sure to... (instruction)गर्ने / गरिरहनु (निर्देशन)Verb (dictionary or negative form) + ように. Gives a command, instruction, or expresses a wish that a certain state be achieved.
Softer and more indirect than 〜こと or 〜なさい. Also used for reported commands (〜ように言う). Expresses goals, e.g. 間に合うように早く出発する.
〜こと वा 〜なさい भन्दा नरम र अप्रत्यक्ष हुन्छ। अर्काको आदेश सुनाउँदा (〜ように言う) पनि प्रयोग हुन्छ। लक्ष्य व्यक्त गर्न पनि प्रयोग गरिन्छ, जस्तै 間に合うように早く出発する।
〜においてExpressionIn / at / on (time, place, or field) — formalमा / माथि (समय, स्थान, वा क्षेत्र) — औपचारिकNoun + において / における + Noun
A formal expression used for specifying a context, time, location, or domain. Common in academic and formal writing.
सन्दर्भ, समय, स्थान, वा क्षेत्र निर्दिष्ट गर्न प्रयोग हुने औपचारिक अभिव्यक्ति। शैक्षिक र औपचारिक लेखनमा सामान्य हुन्छ।
〜たばかりTime & SequenceJust did (something) — very recent actionभर्खरै गरेको — एकदमै भर्खरको क्रियाVerb た-form + ばかり
Expresses that an action was completed very recently. Can also be used with nouns (〜したばかりのN).
कुनै क्रिया एकदमै भर्खर पूरा भएको कुरा व्यक्त गर्छ। संज्ञासँग पनि प्रयोग गर्न सकिन्छ (〜したばかりのN)।
〜わけ (reason / not necessarily)ExpressionReason / meaning / it doesn't mean that — explanatory nuanceकारण / अर्थ / त्यसको मतलब होइन — व्याख्यात्मक अर्थVerb (plain) + わけだ / わけではない / わけがない
わけだ expresses logical explanation or conclusion. わけではない means 'it doesn't mean that'. わけがない means 'there's no way that'.
わけだ ले तार्किक व्याख्या वा निष्कर्ष व्यक्त गर्छ। わけではない को अर्थ 'त्यसको मतलब होइन' हुन्छ। わけがない को अर्थ 'त्यो सम्भवै छैन' हुन्छ।
〜に関する / 〜に関してExpressionRegarding / concerning / aboutसम्बन्धमा / विषयमा / बारेमाNoun + に関する (+ Noun) / に関して
Used to indicate the topic or subject matter of an action, speech, or document.
कुनै क्रिया, भाषण, वा दस्तावेजको विषयवस्तु जनाउन प्रयोग हुन्छ।
〜らしいHearsay & AppearanceSeems like / It is said that / typical of~ जस्तो देखिने / ~ भनिने / ~ को विशेषता भएकोVerb/Adjective plain form + らしい / Noun + らしい / Noun + っぽい
Two main uses: (1) conjecture based on hearsay or evidence ('it seems / I heard that'); (2) typical-of quality when attached to a noun (男らしい, 夏らしい). In form (2) it expresses ideal/representative qualities, not mere resemblance.
दुई मुख्य प्रयोग: (१) आधारभूत अनुमान वा सुनेको कुरा ('जस्तो देखिने / भनिने'); (२) संज्ञासँग जोडिँदा विशिष्ट गुण (男らしい, 夏らしい)। दोस्रो रूपले आदर्श/प्रतिनिधि गुण जनाउँछ, मात्र मिल्दो भनेको होइन।
〜と、〜たTime & SequenceWhen... then... (discovery)गर्दा / गरेपछि... भयो (पत्ता लाग्दा)Verb (dictionary form) + と + past result. Describes discovering a result upon doing something.
Used for discoveries: 開けると、猫がいた. The main clause is always in the past tense. 〜たら、〜た is a more casual, interchangeable alternative. Not used for intentions or requests.
पत्ता लागेको वर्णन गर्दा प्रयोग गरिन्छ: 開けると、猫がいた। मुख्य वाक्यांश सधैं भूतकालमा हुन्छ। 〜たら、〜た बढी बोलचालको विकल्प हो। इच्छा वा अनुरोधमा प्रयोग गरिँदैन।
〜てほしい / 〜てもらいたいRequest & PermissionWant someone to do... / Would like you to...कसैले ~ गरोस् भन्ने चाहनुVerb て-form + ほしい / もらいたい
Expresses the speaker's desire for another person to do something. てほしい states the wish directly; てもらいたい adds the nuance of wanting to receive the favor. Can be softened with んです/んだけど when making a request.
वक्ताले अर्को व्यक्तिले केही गरोस् भन्ने चाहना व्यक्त गर्छ। てほしい ले सोझै चाहना जनाउँछ; てもらいたい ले उपकार प्राप्त गर्न चाहने भाव थप्छ। अनुरोध गर्दा んです/んだけど सँग जोडेर कोमल बनाउन सकिन्छ।
〜くらい / 〜ほどComparisonTo the extent that... / as ... as...हदसम्म / ...जतिVerb plain form / Noun + くらい or ほど + degree clause
〜くらい and 〜ほど express degree or extent. ほど is more formal and emphasizes the degree more strongly. Both are used to compare and to describe a very high degree.
〜くらい र 〜ほど ले मात्रा वा हद जनाउँछन्। ほど बढी औपचारिक र हदमा बढी जोड दिने शैली हो। तुलना र उच्च मात्रा जनाउन दुवै प्रयोग हुन्छन्।
〜たびにTime & SequenceEvery time (something happens)हरेक पटक (केही हुँदा)Verb (plain present) + たびに / Noun + の + たびに
Expresses that something occurs or is true every time a particular event happens.
कुनै विशेष घटना हुने हरेक पटक केही हुन्छ वा सत्य हुन्छ भन्ने व्यक्त गर्छ।
〜代わりにComparisonInstead of... / In place of...को सट्टामा / को ठाउँमाNoun + の代わりに, or Verb (dictionary form) + 代わりに. Indicates substitution or doing something in exchange.
Two uses: substitution (instead of X) and exchange or compensation. Can connect two clauses: 手伝う代わりに、昼ご飯をごちそうしてください. It can also mean in exchange for.
दुई प्रयोग हुन्छन्: प्रतिस्थापन (कुनै कुराको सट्टा) र बदला वा क्षतिपूर्ति। दुई वाक्यांश जोड्न पनि सकिन्छ: 手伝う代わりに、昼ご飯をごちそうしてください। बदलामा भन्ने अर्थ पनि हुन्छ।
〜ままTime & SequenceAs it is / Remaining unchangedत्यसै / यसै अवस्थामाVerb (た-form or ない-form) + まま, Noun + のまま, or Adjective + まま. Indicates a state kept unchanged.
Describes keeping a state as it is while doing something else. 靴をはいたまま means with shoes on. 〜ままにする means to leave something as is.
कुनै अवस्थालाई यथावत् राखेर अर्को काम गर्ने वर्णन गर्छ। 靴をはいたまま को अर्थ जुत्ता लगाएकै अवस्थामा हो। 〜ままにする को अर्थ त्यसै छोड्नु हो।
〜わけだJudgment & ModalityNo wonder... / That explains why / Means that...किन त ~ भएको रहेछ / ~ भन्ने अर्थ होSentence (plain form) + わけだ
Shows that something is a natural, logical conclusion or explanation based on the facts just given. Often used after discovering a reason, with the nuance no wonder....
भर्खरै दिइएका तथ्यको आधारमा कुनै कुरा स्वाभाविक, तार्किक निष्कर्ष वा व्याख्या हो भनी जनाउँछ। कारण थाहा पाएपछि प्रायः प्रयोग गरिन्छ: किन त ~ भएको रहेछ।
〜ことがあるExperienceThere are times when... / Sometimes...कहिलेकाहीँ ~ हुने गर्छVerb dictionary form + ことがある / こともある
Describes that something happens sometimes, as a habit or occasional occurrence. Do not confuse with 〜たことがある (have ever done). With present verbs it means sometimes; こともある adds there are also times when.
कुनै कुरा कहिलेकाहीँ हुने गरेको बानी वा प्रसंगगत घटनालाई जनाउँछ। たことがある (कहिल्यै गरेको अनुभव) सँग अलमलिनु हुँदैन। वर्तमान क्रियासँग कहिलेकाहीँ अर्थ हुन्छ; こともある ले कहिलेकाहीँ पनि हुने भाव थप्छ।
〜というConditionalsCalled / named / that (one) saysभन्ने / नामकोNoun + という + Noun
〜という is used to introduce a name or something that was said. It connects a name to the person or thing, like 'a person called Suzuki'. It can also quote what someone said or thought.
〜という ले कुनै नाम वा भनाइ चिनाउन प्रयोग गरिन्छ। नामलाई व्यक्ति वा चीजसँग जोड्छ, जस्तै 'सुजुकी भन्ने व्यक्ति'। कसैले भनेको वा सोचेको कुरा उद्धरण गर्दा पनि प्रयोग हुन्छ।
〜ないと / 〜なきゃ / 〜なくちゃRequest & PermissionMust do / Have to...गर्नु पर्छ / गर्नै पर्नेVerb (negative form) + と/きゃ/くちゃ. Contracted conversational forms meaning have to. The result clause is often omitted.
Casual spoken equivalents of 〜なければならない. The implied meaning is if I don't do it, something bad will happen. なきゃ is the most casual, なくちゃ is also common.
〜なければならない का बोलिचालीका छोटा रूपहरू हुन्। अन्तर्निहित अर्थ गरेन भने राम्रो हुँदैन हो। なきゃ सबैभन्दा अनौपचारिक हो, なくちゃ पनि प्रचलित छ।
〜みたいHearsay & AppearanceLooks like / Seems like / Similar to~ जस्तो देखिने / ~ जस्तो लाग्नेNoun + みたい(だ), Verb/Adjective (plain form) + みたいだ. Casual equivalent of 〜ようだ; expresses inference or appearance.
Very common in spoken Japanese. みたいだ at sentence end marks certainty/conjecture; みたいな + noun modifies; みたいに + verb is adverbial. More informal than 〜ようだ.
बोलिचालीमा अत्यधिक प्रचलित। वाक्यको अन्त्यमा みたいだ ले अनुमान जनाउँछ; みたいな + संज्ञा विशेषणजस्ता जोडिन्छ; みたいに + क्रिया क्रियाविशेषण बन्छ।
〜にもかかわらずExpressionDespite ~ / In spite of ~~ भए तापनि / ~ को बावजूदNoun/Plain form + にもかかわらず
Formal expression for contrast. Stronger than のに. Often used in written Japanese.
विपरीत अर्थका लागि औपचारिक अभिव्यक्ति। のに भन्दा बलियो। प्रायः लिखित जापानीमा प्रयोग हुन्छ।
〜わけにはいかないJudgment & ModalityCannot afford to... / Cannot due to social or moral reasonsगर्न सकिँदैन / सक्ने अवस्था छैनVerb (dictionary form) + わけにはいかない. Means one cannot do something because of responsibility, social, or moral reasons.
Expresses that something is impossible from a moral, social, or practical standpoint, not physical impossibility. The negative form 〜ないわけにはいかない means cannot help but do.
शारीरिक नभई नैतिक, सामाजिक वा व्यावहारिक कारणले गर्न नसकिने अर्थ दिन्छ। नकारात्मक रूप 〜ないわけにはいかない को अर्थ गर्नै पर्ने हुन्छ।
〜ば〜ほどConditionalsThe more... the more...जति ~ त्यति / गर्दै जाँदा ~ हुँदै जानेVerb ば-form + same Verb plain form + ほど
Correlative construction expressing proportional change: the more X happens, the more Y happens. The same verb is repeated in ば and plain forms. e.g. 食べれば食べるほど = the more (I) eat, the more... 。
समानुपातिक परिवर्तन जनाउने संरचना: X जति भयो, Y पनि त्यति नै हुन्छ। उही क्रिया ば र सादा रूपमा दोहोरिन्छ। जस्तै 食べれば食べるほど = जति खान्छु, त्यति ~ 。।
〜からこそReason & ResultFor the precise reason that... / Precisely because...कै कारणले मात्र / यसै कारणलेVerb/Adjective (plain form) + からこそ. Emphasizes that the stated reason is the very reason for the result.
Emphasizes that a result was achieved only because of the stated reason. Often used with gratitude or justification. It cannot be used when the reason is uncertain or not the main cause.
भनिएको कारणकै कारणले मात्र नतिजा आएको भनी जोड दिन प्रयोग गरिन्छ। प्रायः कृतज्ञता वा औचित्य जनाउँदा प्रयोग हुन्छ। अनिश्चित वा मुख्य कारण नभएको अवस्थामा प्रयोग गर्न मिल्दैन।
〜出すVerb AspectsTo suddenly begin doing...अचानक सुरु हुनु / सुरु गर्नुVerb (ます-stem) + 出す. Indicates the sudden onset of an action or state.
Describes a sudden beginning: 降り出す, 泣き出す, 走り出す. Also used in the past as 〜出した. Focuses on the beginning, not the continuing action.
अचानक सुरु भएको वर्णन गर्छ: 降り出す, 泣き出す, 走り出す। भूतकालको रूप 〜出した का रूपमा पनि प्रयोग हुन्छ। निरन्तर क्रियाभन्दा सुरुवातमा केन्द्रित हुन्छ।
〜たところTime & SequenceWhen I did... / Just discovered upon doing...गरेपछि / गर्दा गर्दै (नयाँ कुरा थाहा पाएको)Verb た-form + ところ
Indicates that an action was just performed and a new finding/situation resulted. Common structure: 〜たところ、〜た (when I did X, I found that Y). Often expresses a discovery or slightly unexpected result.
कुनै काम भर्खरै गरियो र नयाँ नतिजा/अवस्था आयो भन्ने जनाउँछ। सामान्य संरचना: 〜たところ、〜た (X गरेपछि, Y भएको रहेछ)। प्रायः नयाँ जानकारी वा अनपेक्षित नतिजा जनाउँछ।
〜たとたんTime & SequenceJust as / Immediately afterगरेपछि तुरुन्तै / ~ गर्दा-गर्दैVerb た-form + とたん(に)

〜ようとする expresses an attempt or intention to do something; in the past form 〜ようとした it means 'was just about to do'. The negative 〜ようとしない shows that someone won't try or has no intention to do it.
〜ようとするले गर्ने प्रयास वा इच्छा जनाउँछ; विगत रूप 〜ようとした बनेपछि 'गर्न लागेको' भन्ने अर्थ निस्कन्छ। नकारात्मक रूप 〜ようとしないले गर्नतिर मन नजाने वा प्रयासै नगर्ने भाव देखाउँछ।

〜さえ means 'even', highlighting an extreme example of something. さえあれば means 'as long as (one) has...', expressing a minimum condition. It is often used to point out a surprising or extreme case.
〜さえले 'पनि, समेत' भन्ने जोड दिन्छ र चरम उदाहरण देखाउँछ। さえあれば = 'छ भने नै' अर्थात् न्यूनतम शर्त। अनपेक्षित वा चरम अवस्था देखाउन बढी प्रयोग हुन्छ।

〜に違いない expresses a strong conjecture based on evidence, meaning 'must be / no doubt'. It is stronger than はずだ. The polite form is に違いありません.

を通じて emphasizes the medium or channel (internet, experience), while を通して emphasizes the entire duration or process. Often interchangeable.

〜がちVerb AspectsTendency to... / Prone to...हुने प्रवृत्ति हुने / हुन खोज्नेVerb (ます-stem) + がち, or Noun + がち. Describes a habit or tendency that occurs frequently, usually negative.
Describes a negative tendency or habit that happens easily or often. Common with 病気がち, 忘れがち, 遅れがち. Often seen as 〜がちだ or 〜がちな.

Work through each blueprint in order: read the structure, check the notes, then build your own sentences with it. Patterns are grouped by level, so studying them in sequence follows the exam syllabus.
What changes between grammar levels?
N5 covers basic sentence structure. N4 and N3 add connective forms, conditionals and increasingly formal registers. N2 and N1 expect you to handle academic and business Japanese, including written and spoken styles used in the wild.
