What is JLPT N3?

N3 is the intermediate level: enough Japanese for daily life, work and much of what you read at your own pace. The exam expects roughly 3,750 vocabulary words and 650 kanji. NihonGyan has 2000 N3 words, 370 kanji and 90 grammar patterns.

How many kanji do I need for N3?

The exam assumes around 650 kanji. This site covers 370 of them, so pair it with the app for the rest — and with real reading practice, because N3 passages are written at newspaper length.
