です is the polite copula attached to nouns or adjectives to make polite statements. It changes to ではありません in the negative and でした in the past.

じゃありません is the polite negative form of です. じゃありません and ではありません are both possible, with では being slightly more formal.

Adding か at the end of a sentence makes it a yes/no question. The sentence keeps the です form, and the intonation rises naturally.

あります is used for non-living things and plants, while います is used for people and animals. The place where something exists is marked with に.

で marks the place where an action such as eating, studying, or playing takes place. The place is usually introduced earlier in the sentence with は.

も replaces は, が, and を, meaning 'also' or 'too'. It is used to add another item to what was said before.
も ले は, が, を लाई बदलेर 'पनि' को अर्थ दिन्छ। अघि भनिएको कुरामा अर्को चीज थप्न प्रयोग हुन्छ।

い-adjectives attach directly to nouns, while な-adjectives need な before the noun. No です is used before the noun.

This pattern states a topic and then describes a specific part of it with が. It is used with words like 好き, じょうず, and adjectives describing body parts.
यो ढाँचाले विषय बताएर त्यसको कुनै विशेष भागलाई が सँग वर्णन गर्छ। 好き, じょうず, र शरीरका अंग बुझाउने विशेषणसँग प्रयोग हुन्छ।

Two main uses: (1) action in progress (eating now), (2) resulting state (married = currently in married state).

The て-form joins two or more actions in sequence. The tense is shown by the final verb.

てください is a polite request. ないでください tells someone not to do something. Both are softer than a direct command.

Grants permission. The negative 〜てはいけません means it is not allowed.

てはいけません expresses prohibition. In conversation ては often contracts to ちゃ, like しちゃいけません.

The ます-stem of a verb followed by に行く expresses going somewhere in order to do that action. に can be replaced by へ.

Both express reason. から is more direct/assertive; ので is softer and more formal — preferred in polite contexts.

が or けど connects two sentences to express contrast or a soft lead-in. けど is more casual than が.

Expresses the speaker's desire. Only used for the speaker's own wishes, not third person (use 〜たがっている for that).

ましょうか offers to do something for someone or proposes doing something together. The か softens it into a question.

Movement verbs take a destination marked with に or へ. 行く means go, 来る means come, and かえる means to return home.
गति क्रियाको गन्तव्यलाई に वा へ ले चिन्ह लगाइन्छ। 行く को अर्थ जानु, 来る को आउनु र かえる को घर फर्कनु हो।

ことができます expresses ability or possibility. ことができません is the negative. For verbs with a special ability form, the potential form can also be used.
ことができます ले क्षमता वा सम्भावना जनाउँछ। नकारात्मक रूप ことができません हो। विशेष सामर्थ्य रूप भएका क्रियामा पर्याय रूप पनि प्रयोग हुन्छ।
〜ときTime & SequenceWhen ~ / at the time of ~~ गर्दा / ~ हुँदा (समय)Verb / Adjective / Noun + とき
とき marks the time when something happens. The tense inside the clause shows whether it happened before or at the time.
とき ले केही हुँदाको समय जनाउँछ। भित्रको क्रियाको कालले पहिले वा त्यही समय भएको बताउँछ।
〜まえにTime & SequenceBefore ~ing / before ~~ गर्नुअघि / ~ हुनुअघिVerb dictionary form + 前に / [Noun] の前に
前に expresses that something happens before another action or time. With verbs, use the dictionary form; with nouns, use の前に.
前に ले अर्को क्रिया वा समयभन्दा अघि हुने कुरा जनाउँछ। क्रियासँग शब्दकोश रूप र नामसँग の前に प्रयोग हुन्छ।
〜てからTime & SequenceAfter doing ~ / since doing ~~ गरेपछि / ~ गरेपछि देखिVerb て-form + から
てから means 'after doing something' and emphasizes that one action happens after another is completed. It is stronger than a simple て conjunction.
てから को अर्थ '~ गरेपछि' हो र पहिलो क्रिया पूरा भएपछि मात्र अर्को हुन्छ भन्ने जोड दिन्छ। साधारण て जोडभन्दा बढी स्पष्ट हुन्छ।

たことがあります expresses past experience. たことがありません is the negative. It is used for experiences at any time in the past.

These adjectives describe liking, disliking, skill, or lack of skill. The topic is marked with が.
यी विशेषणले मनपर्ने, मन नपर्ने, दक्षता वा कमजोरी जनाउँछन्। विषयलाई が ले चिन्ह लगाइन्छ।

ほしい expresses desire for a noun, and the wanted thing is marked with が. To express wanting to do an action, use 〜たい instead.

あげる is giving away, くれる is giving to me or my group, and もらう is receiving. に marks the receiver, while もらう takes から for the giver.

〜たり〜たりする lists example actions. The actions are not exhaustive, and the tense comes from する.

なります means 'to become' and expresses a change of state. Nouns and な-adjectives take に, while い-adjectives change the final い to く.
なります को अर्थ 'हुनु' हो र अवस्था परिवर्तन जनाउँछ। नाम र な-विशेषणपछि に आउँछ भने い-विशेषणको अन्तिम い く मा बदलिन्छ।

に after a time period shows how often something happens per that period, like 'twice a week'. The counter depends on what is being counted.
समय अवधिपछिको に ले त्यो अवधिमा कति पटक भन्ने बताउँछ, जस्तै 'हप्तामा दुई पटक'। गनिने वस्तु अनुसार परिमाणक फरक हुन्छ।
〜から〜までRanges & ConnectionsFrom ~ to ~ (range)~ देखि ~ सम्म (दायरा)[Point A] から [Point B] まで
から marks the starting point and まで the ending point of a time or place range. The pair is often used together in one sentence.
から ले सुरुवात र まで ले अन्त्य बिन्दु जनाउँछ (समय वा स्थान)। यो जोडी प्रायः एउटै वाक्यमा सँगै प्रयोग हुन्छ।
こ/そ/あ/どDemonstrativesThis / that / that over there / which (series prefix)यो / त्यो / उति परेको / कुन (शृंखला उपसर्ग)こ〜 (near speaker) / そ〜 (near listener) / あ〜 (far from both) / ど〜 (question)
The ko- series refers to things near the speaker, the so- series to things near the listener, and the a- series to things far from both. The do- series is used in questions.

どうですか asks for an opinion or how something is going. It is often used to ask about someone's health or to recommend things.
どうですか ले राय वा अवस्था सोध्छ। प्रायः स्वास्थ्य सोध्न वा कुनै चीज सिफारिस गर्दा प्रयोग हुन्छ।
どれ/どの [Noun]QuestionsWhich one? / which ~?कुनचाहिँ? / कुन ~?どれ (alone) / どの + [Noun]
どれ asks 'which one' from a group and stands alone, while どの must be followed by a noun. Answers often use この/その/あの.
どれ ले समूहबाट 'कुनचाहिँ' सोध्छ र एक्लै प्रयोग हुन्छ, भने どの सधैं नामसँगै आउँछ। उत्तरमा प्रायः この/その/あの प्रयोग हुन्छ।
もう/まだAdverbs & StateAlready / yet (もう・まだ)पहिल्यै / अझै (もう・まだ)もう + [done action] / まだ + [not done action] + ません
もう means 'already' with finished actions. まだ means 'still' or 'not yet' and takes the negative form of the verb.
もう सकिएका क्रियासँग 'पहिल्यै' जनाउँछ। まだ को अर्थ 'अझै' वा 'अहिलेसम्म पनि' हो र क्रियाको नकारात्मक रूपसँग आउँछ।

These words combined with a negative verb mean 'nowhere', 'nothing', and 'nobody'. The particle も replaces を and が.

Adding か to question words makes them indefinite: somewhere, something, someone. With も and negation they become negative instead.

A plain-style sentence can modify a noun, like 'the book I bought'. The verb stays in the plain form and no です is used.

でしょう expresses probability or guesswork and is softer than です. With rising intonation it becomes a tag question meaning 'right?'.
でしょう ले सम्भावना वा अनुमान जनाउँछ र です भन्दा नरम हुन्छ। स्वर माथि उठाउँदा 'होइन र?' भन्ने प्रश्न हुन्छ।

どちら is the polite form of どれ and is used to compare two items. The answer uses のほうが, like 紅茶のほうが好きです.
どちら どれ को विनम्र रूप हो र दुई चीज तुलना गर्न प्रयोग हुन्छ। उत्तरमा のほうが प्रयोग हुन्छ, जस्तै 紅茶のほうが好きです।
〜でどれがいちばん〜ComparisonWhich is the most ~? (superlative)कुन सबैभन्दा ~? (उत्कृष्ट)[Group] で、どれが いちばん [Adjective] ですか
Use で to mark the group being compared and いちばん to mean 'the most'. The answer uses 〜がいちばん, like 桜がいちばんきれいです.
तुलना गरिने समूहलाई で ले जनाइन्छ र いちばん को अर्थ 'सबैभन्दा'। उत्तर 〜がいちばん बाट आउँछ, जस्तै 桜がいちばんきれいです।
How should I study these grammar patterns?
Work through each blueprint in order: read the structure, check the notes, then build your own sentences with it. Patterns are grouped by level, so studying them in sequence follows the exam syllabus.
What changes between grammar levels?
N5 covers basic sentence structure. N4 and N3 add connective forms, conditionals and increasingly formal registers. N2 and N1 expect you to handle academic and business Japanese, including written and spoken styles used in the wild.
